Music goes from one soul to another. Birds talk through music. They have a heart. Everything we feel in life is felt in our hearts. The heart is life's metronome. And there's a lot of people who forget this. A metronome is what humanity needs most. If there was someone who could implant a metronome at earth's core, maybe we'd be closer to peace. People misunderstand each other. Races and peoples live mismatched, because they don't remember the metronome they keep in their bodies: the heart. God gave Brazil this geometrical form of a heart. And there's a throbbing rhythm in all countrymen, especially those from the northeastern region: this sense of rhythm, heart, this unit of movement, this sensitive metronome. My friends, it was with this thought that I became a musician. It was because of this that I became a deep and eternal slave of this country's things. And I don't have any special gift for speaking or writing, but I do have a gift for sounds and rhythm. And I transcribe in sounds and rhythm this crazy love I have for my nation. BACHIANAS BRASILEIRAS n°5 de Heitor VILLA-LOBOS (1938) pour soprano et 8 violoncelles - Aria - Par Joan Baez (1965) Musicien de la première moitié du XXè siècle, Heitor Villa Lobos est né et mort à Rio de Janeiro. Violoncelliste, guitariste, compositeur, il a étudié la musique d'abord au Brésil, puis en Europe. Villa-Lobos a consacré une partie de sa vie à parcourir le Brésil à la découverte du folklore de son pays, mais était aussi fasciné par la musique européenne, et en particulier celle de Bach. Les Bachianas Brasileiras sont des pièces écrites pour des petites formations ou pour orchestre, dans lesquelles le compositeur rend hommage à JSBach (l'écriture rappelle la musique baroque), mais s'inspire également de chants et de danses populaires brésiliens Tarde, uma nuvem rosea lenta e transparente, sobre o espaço sonhadora e bela! Guiomar Novaes (1895-1979) Brazilian musician, child prodigy who was considered the greatest woman pianist for most of the 20th century. Born in Sao Joao da Boa Vista,SP, she was the 17th of 19 children. Initially she studied with L.Chiafarelli. With aid by the brazilian government Mme Novaes was sent to audition for admittance to the Paris Conservatory before a jury of Cl. Debussy, G. Faure, M. Moskowski ao The jury selected her from 389 other participants and she studied with Is. Philipp, graduating in 1911. Concert tours in France, England and Italy. She used to be the star of the Concerts Colonne. American debut in 1915. In Theatro Municipal de Sao Paulo in 1922.
