Aug 15, 2010 - @FreewheelinLibertine :-) Generally speaking it's not so good to take the Queen out early. It will just constantly get attacked by the developing pieces of the opponent and then you end up with only your queen forced into a corner while your opponent has a lot of his pieces out.

Aug 18, 2010 - Being an amateur, I think I'll have some fun with this. XD

Cricket24 Says:

Aug 19, 2010 - Sorry, but I'm new to chess. Is it called a Queen's Gambit because the pawn that moves first is in front of the queen? I noticed that the King's Gambit moves the pawn in front of the King first. Is there a gambit for every back-row piece? If a gambit is a sacrifice of a pawn, then is it still called a gambit if the opponent doesn't take the bait?

Yulrath Says:

Aug 20, 2010 - @Cricket24 A gambit is just any offer of a piece sacrifice. Generally, you play them to gain a tempo and an advantage in the development of your pieces. A gambit that is taken is accepted, while a gambit that the player does not take is declined. So, for this particular opening, white moves pawn d4, black moves pawn d5, and white moves pawn c4. If black takes white's c4 pawn with his d5 pawn, then the gambit has been accepted. If black does not take, the gambit is declined.

Aug 21, 2010 - @FreewheelinLibertine That's why you don't play with a free program

Aug 22, 2010 - @YONE0004 after Qxa8 Bc6, white can simply play Qxa2, and he's up a rook and a pawn with no real danger for his queen.

Aug 23, 2010 - what the fucks a GAMBIT?

alfian961 Says:

Aug 25, 2010 - Gambit is a sacrifice in the beggining for an advantage later on. o.O

MrZingnigga Says:

Aug 25, 2010 - unlikescrack playing e4 can force white to play more passively in order to hold onto the pawn. black can take the c3 knight with bishop-b4 and use the f6 knight to force awkward moves like f3 or queen-d3. white loses a lot of attacking power out of the opening and negates any advantage provided by the accepted gambit.

madsthiesen Says:

Aug 25, 2010 - 4:54 - instead of blocking the attack on the queen with Nf3, wouldn't it be smarter to move do Qb3, attacking both the fragile f7 and b7?

HonkIfYouLoveHonking Says:

Aug 29, 2010 - @FreewheelinLibertine I like NagaSkaki. You can pick "personalities" including one or two that play like someone who barely knows how to play.

FreewheelinLibertine Says:

Aug 29, 2010 - I hate how he never went over any moves that my opponent plays.

weefunker Says:

Aug 30, 2010 - I just won a game with that queen trap lol it was eerie my opponent played exactly as you said. I took his rook and he brought up his queen to defend, I followed up with ra7 and it was basically over lol

Siobaras Says:

Sep 4, 2010 - 4:59 instead of Nf3 self-pinning our knight, we have Qb3 attacking both f7 and b7 pawns.

wayneleon1000 Says:

Sep 4, 2010 - Black does not play pawn c4, that is White's response. You made an error there.

shagreezz3 Says:

Sep 4, 2010 - Can somebody answers this question for me.....What if my opponent is not a professional player and DOES NOT play according to the book and after i make my move to d4 my opponent goes Pa6??

trakomako Says:

Sep 5, 2010 - I do not belive it is smart to learn this openings by hart. Becouse you are not learning the hart of the game. but it sure helps

trakomako Says:

Sep 5, 2010 - @shagreezz3 never learn to play by hart. try to control the center of the bord and try to develop your pieces then play the game. look for weak spots in your oponets defence and try to use it. besides if you are asking this questions and you will play with professional you will lose.

MsScrabblemonster Says:

Sep 5, 2010 - Kevin talks way 2 much 4 too little information

shagreezz3 Says:

Sep 5, 2010 - @trakomako What?? Are you like five or something?? If not then why cant you spell....and I never said i was playing professional the reason I mentioned it was to make a point the he doesnt play by the book....and you can learn a opening by HEART, you just might have to make adjustments....but you are right that was a stupid question from me...
